If you’re planning a holiday in Paris then be sure to check out theses two hotels that I had a pleasure of staying in recently, one offers an authentic Parisian experience and the other luxurious indulgence. I’ll let the photo’s do the talking!
Hotel Louvois Square
Hotel Louvois Square is perfectly placed in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris which close to the Museé du Louvre, is central to all of the main sights that you will likely want to take in. The hotel itself has a sleek, modern Gothic design, it has a slight feel of prohibition era New York.
The rooms are spacious, immaculate and elegant, with all of the mod cons that you would expect from a hotel that carries such a high reputation for quality. There were 2 things that stood out for me in the rooms though, one was the bed, this thing was like Alcatraz, once you were in there you weren’t getting out! And I mean that in a good way, one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in, even if it did ruin my plans to explore the empty city at sunrise (I just didn’t want to get out!).
The second was the shower, this thing was a serious piece of kit, it had 6 dials on it, water came pouring down from over your head, from 3 vents in the wall and you also had a hand held shower head for good measure. I’m slightly embarrassed to say, but I have actually thought of that shower a few times since I got back!
The rooms are everything you would expect from a high class hotel but what makes this place stand out from the rest undoubtedly is the spa. A candle lit, heated jacuzzi pool in the open brick design basement that allows you to escape all of the hustle and bustle of the big city above you, and in my case the hangover from the previous night (Anthony Joshua beat Klitschko, don’t judge me!). Whilst Hotel Louvois delivers on the luxury, Hotel Chopin certainly delivers on authenticity and ability to give you a real Parisian experience. Again a central location in the 9th arrondissement means that you are well placed to explore the city.
The hotel itself is nestled in an old fashioned indoor shopping parade that is full of real character! the indoor parade is lined with authentic local bakeries, patisseries & niche shops which for the first time on my trip made me feel like I was experiencing the real Paris!
The hotel interior is predominantly mahogany wood complimented with cast iron and classical ornaments which as a package helps to keep up the authentic feel from the exterior, the rooms are spacious, clean, understated and in-keeping with the rest of the hotel design.
I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel as it made me feel like I had experienced what Paris was like in the early 1900’s, it reminded me of my favourite childhood film the Aristocats! In fact there were even two roaming the hotel hallways, I’d like to think they were descendants of Thomas O’Malley the alley cat..! To book a stay at the hotel Chopin visit their website here.
